    Hans van Dijk has founded his own company CustomsAdvisoryPlus early 2010 and also started setting up his own international network as a founding member of The Customs Advisors.  Before setting up his own company, Hans has been a partner with the global firm Transfer Pricing Associates as from January 1, 2008 where acted as the head of the global customs practice. During this period Hans has, amongst others, offered unique transfer pricing-customs valuation services to his clients (see Valuation and Transfer Pricing). 

    Hans specializes in European Community Customs law and frequently analyzes transfer pricing arrangements and reviews corporate tax structures from a customs valuation point of view. He has also obtained numerous customs valuation and also classification rulings (BTI’s) (see also Customs Value and Classification)on behalf of his clients. He dealt with many customs valuation and classification appeal procedures and was also involved in Tax Effective Supply Chain Management- (TESCM; see also Supply Chain Management) , SOX- and AEO projects (see AEO). He represented his clients both on a National and EU Commission level.

    Hans started working with E&Y as a senior customs advisor in 1988 and successfully established the very first European Customs and VAT Desk of any of the Big 4 in New York in 1990. He has been the Director of the New York Desk until 1995 and together with his staff served many US MNC's  on outbound planning.

    Since his return in The Netherlands from 1995 until the end of 2007, Hans again worked for E&Y in The Netherlands and was heading a team of about 6-8 customs specialists. He was a member of E&Y's European indirect tax management and also a member of the TESCM team. Hans coordinated full-scale European-wide customs reviews for clients. He has served as the coordinator for North- and South-American projects and acted as a coordinator in Europe for customs reviews for US, Brazilian, Japanese and Taiwanese clients. Hans has initiated/co-developed AEO and customs- assessment programs and initiated/coordinated multi-functional teams which provided customs related services to clients.

    Hans is a Member/Vice Chair of the Dutch Single Authorization Simplified Procedures platform (formerly Single European Authorization platform); see also under SASP, which he initiated in 1999). This platform meets quarterly and is aimed at the exchange of SASP information. Participants are the customs, VAT- and Statistics authorities and around 20 MNC's. The participating MNC's have set up or are in the process of setting up cross-border licenses. Most of the participants also applied for the Authorized Economic Operator status.

    Hans has been a frequent speaker on seminars, organized by/for specific industry sectors throughout EMEA, the US, Japan, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, South Africa and Israel. Before joining E&Y in 1988, Hans has been a Customs Commissioner and also acted as a Tutor on EU Customs Law at the Postgraduate Training Institute of the Ministry of Finance for Indirect Taxation in The Hague (1985-1988).
